Non-separable detachments of graphs

چکیده
Let G = (V,E) be a graph and r : V → Z+. An r-detachment of G is a graph H obtained by ‘splitting’ each vertex v ∈ V into r(v) vertices, called the pieces of v in H. Every edge uv ∈ E corresponds to an edge of H connecting some piece of u to some piece of v. An r-degree specification for G is a function f on V , such that, for each vertex v ∈ V , f(v) is a partition of d(v) into r(v) positive integers. An f -detachment of G is an r-detachment H in which the degrees in H of the pieces of each v ∈ V are given by f(v). Crispin Nash-Williams [3] obtained necessary and sufficient conditions for a graph to have a k-edge-connected rdetachment or f -detachment. We solve a problem posed by Nash-Williams in [2] by obtaining analogous results for non-separable detachments of graphs.

Non-Separable and Planar Graphs.
Introduction. In this paper the structure of graphs is studied by purely combinatorial methods. The concepts of rank and nullity are fundamental. The first part is devoted to a general study of non-separable graphs. Conditions that a graph be non-separable are given ; the decomposition of a separable graph into its non-separable parts is studied; by means of theorems on circuits of graphs, a me...
متن کاملEnumeration of the degree sequences of non-separable graphs and connected graphs
In 1962, S. L. Hakimi proved necessary and sufficient conditions for a given sequence of positive integers d1, d2, . . . , dn to be the degree sequence of a non–separable graph or that of a connected graph. Our goal in this note is to utilize these results to prove closed formulas for the functions dns(2m) and dc(2m), the number of degree sequences with degree sum 2m representable by non–separa...
متن کاملFinding the maximum-weight induced k-partite subgraph of an i-triangulated graph
An i-triangulated graph is a graph in which every odd cycle has two non-crossing chords; i-triangulated graphs form a subfamily of perfect graphs. A slightly more general family of perfect graphs are clique-separable graphs. A graph is clique-separable precisely if every induced subgraph either has a clique cutset, or is a complete multipartite graph or a clique joined to an arbitrary bipartite...
متن کاملOn the Residual Finiteness of Fundamental Groups of Graphs of Certain Groups
We give a characterization for fundamental groups of graphs of groups amalgamating cyclic edge subgroups to be cyclic subgroup separable if each pair of edge subgroups has a non-trivial intersection. We show that fundamental groups of graphs of abelian groups amalgamating cyclic edge subgroups are cyclic subgroup separable, hence residually finite, if each edge subgroup is isolated in its conta...
متن کاملSuccinct Representations of Separable Graphs
We consider the problem of highly space-efficient representation of separable graphs while supporting queries in constant time in the RAM with logarithmic word size. In particular, we show constanttime support for adjacency, degree and neighborhood queries. For any monotone class of separable graphs, the storage requirement of the representation is optimal to within lower order terms. Separable...
